Essendon defender Jordan Ridley has been signed by Geelong, with the deal finalised on 7 October 2026. The trade sends utility Jack Bowes to Essendon along with four draft picks.

Ridley had been heavily linked to the Cats after Essendon placed a firm price on the defender. Essendon were unwilling to let him go cheaply throughout the trade period.

The agreed trade gives Geelong an seasoned backline option while Essendon receives Bowes and additional selections. Bowes is capable across multiple positions who strengthens the Essendon list heading into the upcoming year.
